FTP enables you to download (or upload) files such as web
pages or working data to your FTP server and internet server.
To acces your server you will need an FTP program such as WS-FTP [click
here]and login access information for your server.
Note: If you do not already have your User Name and Password please
contact your WebInSite representative for it.
ZDNET.com offers a free WS-FTP
for download. Simply pull up http://www.zdnet.com
in your internet browser and click the Downloads link at the top
of the page then Search the download area for " WS-FTP "
(only one WS-FTP ever pulls up). Note: You may have to register
to access the Downloads.
Once you find and download the program to your computer (make
sure to note where you download the file on your hard drive) you must
install the program, follow the instructions provided where you downloaded
your FTP program.
Once installed: Open the program and set up your site information so
that you can connect to your server. You can find additional information
on how to set up your FTP site information within the Help files of
your program. With WebInSite, your "Host" is generally your
own domain name (yourdomain.com). User names and Passwords should have
already been provided to you, if not please contact WebInSite as soon
as possible.
You may of course use any FTP program that you choose, we use WSFTP
so we recommend it. WebInSite cannot offer assistance with any other
program that you may choose. There are many FTP programs on the market
and on the internet, you may wish to try more than one inorder to find
the one that you are most comfortable with.
If you follow the directions and utilize the Help files you should be
fine! Many are windows type programs to make it easier to understand
and follow.
